French Open 2018

Internationaux de France de Tennis, Roland-Garros is the official name of the French Open.
Venue: Roland Garros, Paris 



The French Open is major Tennis Tournament.It was established in 1891.The Fresh open is an annual tennis tournament held over two weeks May and June.There are four grand slam Played each year: Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open and French Open.Organised by the Federation Francaise de Tennis (FFT),The venue is named after French fighter pilot Roland Garros, who was the first man to fly over the Mediterranean Sea.The tournament  in beginning open for males only. Only after 6 years that is in 1897 Women were allowed to participate in the tournament.

The 32-year-old and World number one Rafael Nadal won an 11th French Open title by beating Austrian Dominic Thiem in straight sets. Nadal started playing tennis at a young age of 3.Nadal bagged his first French Open title in 2005 and has been unstoppable on clay ever since.Nadal is only the second player in history to win the same Grand Slam on 11 occasions after Margaret Court, who won 11 Australian Open titles between 1960 and 1973.

World Number one simona Halep has won her first Grand slam title  over american 10th seed sloane Stephens in the French open final.Halep also was the runner-up at the Australian open this january.Halep, who had lost her three previous major finals, went a set and a break down at Roland Garros.Halep is the fourth woman to win a Grand Slam after losing at least three previous finals - following Kim Clijsters, Chris Evert and Jana Novotna.She is the second Romanian woman to win a Grand Slam title, after Virginia Ruzici's victory at Roland Garros in 1978

Yannick Noah was the first African American player to win the Men’s title of the French Open in 1983.From 1939 to 1945 the tournament could not take place because of the ongoing World War I.

Roger Federer has won 20 grand slam titles.Then Rafael Nadal won 17 grand slam title.Only three players have done it in the history of the sport and they’re all women—Margaret Court (24), Serena Williams (23) and Steffi Graf (22).

French Open organisers have upped prize money to a total of €39 million (£34.3m) this year.
