Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)

President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to the RSS headquarters at Nagpur thats why RSS in news.Bhagwat said that the RSS was not about creation of a specific group. “We invite people with different and diverse ideologie.

RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar (1889–1940).with only 5 members on the Auspicious Day of “Vijaya Dashmi” but today it is World’s Largest Organisation. RSS carries the ideal of upholding Indian Culture & Civilization. Before knowing RSS, we must know the Reason of it’s Foundation: “British govt had banned singing of National songs & National Anthem etc. in the Schools & Colleges. When Dr. Hedgewar Ji was studying in British captured Neel City High School in Nagpur, He took the National Flag in hand & went onto the roof of the School & sang “Vande Mataram”. Dr. Hedgewar got support from Many students. The British got Afraid of the rising movement against them & hence, rusticated Hedgewar Ji from School for singing "Vande Mataram".Opposition keep on Blaming RSS for many things & even tried to ban RSS but Supreme Court refused to Put Ban on RSS.

When Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar visited Sangh Shiksha Varga in Pune in 1939, he was surprised to find the Swayamsevaks moving about in absolute equality and brotherhood without even caring to know the caste of the others. When Dr. Ambedkar asked Dr. Hedgewar whether there were any untouchables in the camp, the latter replied that there were neither touchables nor untouchables, but only Hindus.

RSS has been banned a total of 3 times. It was first banned when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on 30th January due to his inclination towards the minorities of India.he second time it was banned during the emergency perio. The third time it was banned due to its involvement in Babri Masjid demolition.

Mukherjee particularly highlighted the imperative to free public discourse from all forms of violence, besides putting compassion, harmony and non-violence as the centre stage of public life, Surjewala said

Pranab Mukherjee has visited the RSS headquarters not because his views about the organisation may have changed. He may still be at variance with the basic ideology of the RSS.
